MIDWINTER (W. R. MIDWINTER (LTD)) - PRODUCTS. The Midwinter ware from the pre-Second World War and immediate post-war periods are of good quality, but are conventional and of relatively little interest to collectors. The Pottery was a mid-size manufacturer of tableware in the 1930s and there are some art deco patterns that would be of minor.

Midwinter Pottery was founded in 1910 as W R Midwinter, by William Robinson Midwinter. Based in Burslem, in the Stoke-on-Trent area it became one of England's largest potteries by the late 1930's and employed more than 700 people.

W. R. Midwinter Ltd was originally a manufacturer of Rockingham teapots, tea wares and toilet wares. During the 1920s and 1930s the firm became well known for its semi-porcelain dinnerware and tea and coffee ware marketed using the 'Porcelon' trade name. These wares were decorated in conservative style except for some art deco inspired.
